US Embassy Kampala

Uganda

Water abundance and quality is important, especially in Uganda. The landscape design at the U.S. Embassy in Kampala incorporates eco-diplomacy as a way to share ideas about sustainable water management strategies. Visible stormwater features manage surface water flow and traverse the site’s steep slopes while adding an ephemeral visual and auditory interest during rain storms. A sanitary water treatment system will further cleanse harvested water for reuse on site. The soft, savannah landscape with native grasses and characteristic regional trees, and the flowing paths among the site’s slopes will create a campus of special moments and beauty from many perspectives.
