Town Common is at the center of Greenville’s seven-mile riverfront and is an important point of the Uptown-River convergence that can best be described as Greenville’s “central park”. The revitalization of the 20-acre urban riverfront park will create a vibrant waterfront that will draw people to Greenville’s Uptown district to live, work, shop, and play while sustaining the physical and social health of the City.
As a first-phase, catalytic project, a dynamic playground helped to draw a new range of park users to the City’s Uptown district and riverfront. The playground includes inclusive play elements to accommodate children with a wide range of physical and mental abilities, as well as nature-based play components that build upon its proximity to the City’s greatest natural resource- the Tar River.
