Streetscape Standards

RHI, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Planning Department, won a 2020 ASLA MD Honor Award for our work on the Silver Spring Streetscape Standards. The design team established an approach to evolve the CBD’s streetscapes into “calm” and “expressive” streetscapes to provide a neutral backdrop for buildings and activities to stand out. Adopted in January 2020, all new development and infrastructure projects will follow these Streetscape Standards. With time, these changes will evolve Silver Spring’s streetscapes and public realm to be unapologetically urban, distinctive, and dynamic.
