Q Street Green Alley

Washington, DC

RHI developed plans to convert an existing paved alley in Northwest D.C. into one of Washington, D.C.’s first green alleys. The design transformed a popular neighborhood cut-through into a landscaped pedestrian thoroughfare.  The project employed a variety of green infrastructure techniques to slow, infiltrate, and filter stormwater that enters the alley from a four-acre watershed.  Techniques included pervious pavers, porous concrete, infiltration planters, and bioretention planting
