Potomac Yard Metrorail Station

RHI teamed with Arup and design build contractor Potomac Yard Constructors to provide landscape architectural design services in support of the design and construction of a new Metrorail station at Potomac Yard.

The new station, built on the Yellow and Blue Lines between the existing Braddock Road and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stations, provides an extensive range of benefits for Alexandria and the surrounding community, including walkable access to regional transportation systems for neighborhoods in the northeast area of the city.

RHI collaborated with Arup on general site design issues and wetlands mitigation. RHI also focused on enhancing the visitor experience by upgrading the entry pavilion, designing a pedestrian and bicycle bridge with accessible ramp, and reconstructing two neighborhood parks.
