Keenan Porter

Landscape Designer

Drawing on professional practice work in both the United States and Europe, Keenan brings demonstrated experience in landscape and urban design, complimented by experiences in a range of related disciplines including historical preservation, urban forestry, and ecological restoration. Driven by a passion for native plants, he specializes in ecologically-focused urban design, which he aims to bring to projects of all scales and locations.

In addition to his design experience, Keenan has a strong research background. Carried out abroad in the Netherlands, Keenan’s undergraduate capstone and Master’s thesis studied heemparks, Dutch parks designed with native plants. His research focuses specifically on the management of naturalistic landscapes and the effect of management intensity on herbaceous vegetation richness. Keenan brings the lessons learned from this unique research to inform his design decisions and create diverse and resilient spaces that will thrive long into the future.Keenan holds Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and Master of Science degrees from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. His broad range of work has included the design of parks, gardens, plazas, green roofs, private residences, streetscapes, placemaking interventions, and ecological restoration.

Outside of work, Keenan is an avid concert goer. He’s seen over 200 in total!
