Now Hiring a Project Planner
RHI, a collaborative firm of planners, urban designers, and landscape architects, is currently hiring a full-time Planner to join our firm in a hybrid in-office/work from home position in the Washington DC area.
For 37 years, RHI has been committed to fostering places that are increasingly more livable, undeniably more equitable, and beautifully functional. Our work is varied, with planning and urban design projects that include comprehensive plans, small area plans, corridor revitalization studies, multimodal transportation planning, design guidelines, community engagement, and more. In these processes, we collaborate with clients, teams, and communities to find solutions that are cross-disciplinary, creative, and pragmatic.
We are seeking to hire a person who is committed to the collaborative planning process, and who is enthusiastic about developing effective strategies that respond to both a community’s unique needs and desires as well as a client’s requirements. We are interested in candidates who have between 2 and 5 years of experience in the realm of planning, have skill in leading public and stakeholder engagement processes, and can effectively communicate ideas and concepts in both written and graphic formats.
ROLE OF PROJECT PLANNER
Preferred skills include:
- Knowledge and experience in both urban planning and community engagement. We welcome both broad-based or specialized experienced in these areas.
- The ability to collaborate with related disciplines (engineers, financial feasibility / economic strategy experts, etc.) as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Practical experience and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Illustrator), ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong skills in writing, analytical research, and oral presentations.
- In addition, graphic design skills are very beneficial.
Our benefits include: health insurance, paid time off and holidays, a company Profit Sharing Plan with an employer contribution, and a program that supports ongoing professional development. Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience.
We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis but will begin reviewing submissions and scheduling interviews by July. We may conduct up to two virtual or in-person interviews with each candidate. We encourage people of color, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals to apply. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and all applications will be considered irrespective of race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, age, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
If you are interested in applying, please send a cover letter and resume to Deana Rhodeside (email@example.com) and copy Jenny Koch (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to receiving your application.
