RHI, a collaborative firm of planners, urban designers, and landscape architects, is currently hiring a full-time Planner to join our firm in a hybrid in-office/work from home position in the Washington DC area.

Our work is varied, with planning and urban design projects that include comprehensive plans, small area plans, corridor revitalization studies, multimodal transportation planning, design guidelines, community engagement, and more. In these processes, we collaborate with clients, teams, and communities to find solutions that are cross-disciplinary, creative, and pragmatic.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking to hire a person who is committed to the collaborative planning process, and who is enthusiastic about developing effective strategies that respond to both a community’s unique needs and desires as well as a client’s requirements. We are interested in candidates who have between 2 and 5 years of experience in the realm of planning, have skill in leading public and stakeholder engagement processes, and can effectively communicate ideas and concepts in both written and graphic formats.

ROLE OF PROJECT PLANNER

Preferred skills include:

  • Knowledge and experience in both urban planning and community engagement. We welcome both broad-based or specialized experienced in these areas.
  • The ability to collaborate with related disciplines (engineers, financial feasibility / economic strategy experts, etc.) as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Practical experience and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Illustrator), ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong skills in writing, analytical research, and oral presentations.
  • In addition, graphic design skills are very beneficial.

THE PROCESS
