Superblock Charrette

The Superblock, a large open space in the center of Downtown Newport News, was the focus of a day-long Charrette aimed at reinventing the long vacant parcel. The community-generated plan proposes reintegrating the Superblock into the context of Downtown, serving as a place to connect the waterfront, civic areas and neighborhoods. The ideas generated during the Charrette and later by the firm lay out an exciting path forward for this Tidewater city.
