DC Convention Center Art Walk

Washington, DC

A unique reuse of the former convention center site in downtown Washington, D.C., the Art Walk functioned as a multipurpose, temporary installation designed to be a civic amenity and a model for sustainable design. The 10.2-acre site featured a raised plinth with a colorful, open-air arcade displaying changeable art panels; a series of broad rain gardens; public parking for 2,000 vehicles; and event space. This vibrant venue hosted Cirque de Soleil, a Trapeze Training school, and other exciting public events before City Center development began on the site.
