Silver Line Metro Corridor

Northern Virginia

The Silver Line extension of Metrorail in the northern Virginia suburb of Washington D.C. added 11 new stations to the system, each with distinctive physical character. The designed landscapes at each of these new stations were fresh and low impact. A landscape language based on water conservation and storm water management unites the sites through common elements, such as special paving, dense native plantings, green roofs and restored woodland areas.  These gestures simultaneously respect and enhance the ecology of each of the varied sites.
