The new U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey, Mexico is set in a valley surrounded by the majestic Sierra Madre mountain range. The landscape design for the compound takes advantage of spectacular views and maximizes the benefits of the climatic conditions. Perimeter and garden spaces incorporate required security include featuring native evergreen shade trees and plantings, locally quarried and fabricated stone paving and garden walls. The design also includes extensive storm water harvesting to supply a high efficiency irrigation system, photovoltaic collectors and LED lighting. The project received LEED gold certification in 2015.
